Expanding Our Mould Shop Team

Half a century has passed since BNL was established to provide customers with a better quality plastic bearing. By injection moulding rather than machining our bearings we supply products with longer life and better performance. Our Mould Shop is key in maintaining these high standards of quality and also in the evolution of our bearings into the integrated and complex products we manufacture today.

New Starters

Recently, we welcomed two new starters to our Tool Setting team. Our Tool Setters are responsible for the set up and adjustment of our mould tools and injection moulding machines, including measuring and checking reference settings, ensuring the tools are functioning and that the parts produced are correct.

Rosie

Rosie has joined us from an automotive engineering background and is completing her apprenticeship this year. She already has experience of very high quality standards and production procedures, having worked in the manufacture of automotive components for JLR platforms, so has hit the ground running at BNL.

“The team are very welcoming and helpful, everyone in the team has an equal role to play and have a good attitude towards the work and their colleagues. I am looking forward to applying my problem solving skills to the work at BNL, finishing my apprenticeship and developing my skills in process engineering.”

Renata

Renata started training as a tool setter at BNL earlier this year, after previously working within our Assembly and Quality teams.

She has taken on more responsibility recently as the department has become busier during a  period of growth and the development of new and more complex bearing products. With such a diverse product range, no job is the same, with different considerations for settings, quality and various moulding machines to become familiar with.

“Product changes and having to learn new techniques are the best part of the job,”, stated Renata,

“Although some training is classroom based, developing new skills in a practical setting is the  best way to learn. The team are respectful and friendly; it is a diverse team and a good mix of personalities and capabilities, where everyone helps each other. I have never felt I could not ask someone for help or advice.”

We are delighted to welcome Rosie and Renata to our Mould Shop team.
